Information About TheFloorPro.com & What We Do For Flooring Professionals, Consumers and DIYers

The Floor Pro IconThe Floor Pro website got its start on May 4, 2006. It began as a ready-made forum package with an add-on content management and portal system. Paint it with a pretty skin and edit a few graphics and it came to life. It would be nice to let you think it was much more complicated than that, but it just isn't. It is a site that came together and registered its first members in less than 2 days.

Who Is The Floor Pro?

This question has been asked a number of times. Many want to put someone's name on TheFloorPro.com. The answer is simple, but some would complicate it. With an individual's name, The Floor Pro website could cease to be about its members and visitors - those who bring this site to life. It would stop being about the contributions that every participant has freely given to make this a valuable resource tool for every segment of the flooring industry and every consumer and DIYer looking to make the best decisions on their purchase and installation of floorcovering products.

TheFloorPro.com cannot be about a single person. No individual can do all that you see and experience here. It is The Floor Pro Community that has gathered here to bring you the content that will make this one of the best resources for information and education to floorcovering professionals and those who seek our products and services.

Like any software you have on your computer, this site has many configuration options. There was a lot of pointing and clicking to be done, a little bit of typing, lots of coffee drinking and the gut wrenching thought that none of this would be taken seriously. It was going to be a difficult sale because the vision of TheFloorPro.com was of something that had not been accomplished in the Internet presence of the floorcovering industry to date.

Purpose of TFP:

We are here solely to be an asset to the flooring industry and the consumers of floor covering products and services. We will gather together the floorcovering industry professionals who are already accomplished or who have a desire to imrove their skills in their areas of expertise and to help each other and the public to become educated in all facets of the industry. We will publish articles that will inform and entertain you; post reviews of flooring related products, to help you make good buying decisions and write step-by-step guides to help educate the professional and the do-it-yourselfer alike. Our purpose is to bring the many different industry segments and their target groups together to help close the gaps in knowledge and communication necessary for a well informed business, employee and consumer.

Our Mission at TFP:

Flooring has become technically complex and the industry internationally diverse. Advances in communications, transportation and business techniques and models have had the paradoxical effect of distancing its members rather than bringing them closer together. The Floor Pro Community staff will actively seek out and solicit industry professionals wherever they may be found and in whatever capacity they perform to bring understanding and education to our members and visitors. We will share our information by way of articles, personal reviews and guided instructions, which you will find through our pages via the navigation system at the top of each page. You can also join us in The Floor Pro Community Forums to exchange thoughts and ask questions with our professional members and our experienced and well informed consumer volunteers.

The Floor Pro Team:

TheFloorPro.com is not a one-person operation. It is managed and maintained by a diverse group of floorcovering professionals who volunteer their time and efforts. It is a team effort that makes it a valuable experience for its members, just as the industry itself must rely on the team effort of all its segments and divisions to satisfy the customer. The team is comprised of:

  • Lead Moderators - volunteers who assist members and visitors in their operation of the forum software and other features, message and thread management (open/close, move, edit, etc.) and supervise other staff.
  • Moderators - also volunteers who assist members and visitors and do message and thread management chores, but are often assigned to specific forums or categories.
  • Forum Guides - These staff members are assigned to one or two forums in their specific industry specialization. Their job is to assist and mentor members in their field of interest using more focused message and thread management tools and in initiating and encouraging discussions related to their forums.
  • Published Authors - This is a special group of people who contribute articles, reviews, conduct interviews and author other content that sets The Floor Pro Community apart from other discussion sites. Their well written and informative material is featured in the pages of TheFloorPro.com and the object of discussion in our forums.

All staff members are involved in the organization and development of TheFloorPro.com. The Floor Pro Community Staff communicate with each other to coordinate their efforts and work to provide you with a fruitful and enjoyable experience. All staff wear the "uniform" of The Floor Pro and are readily recognized. You may contact them at any time via email or PM for assistance and to answer any questions you may have. Please visit the contact page for more information on staff.

The Goal of TFP:

We want to be the premier website and forum for the floorcovering professional and for consumers and do-it-yourselfers. Your complete satisfaction is our goal. We want to provide you with the resources, information, educational tools and camaraderie that will make your career more gratifying and profitable and the choices you make more informed. My job is to do whatever pointing and clicking necessary to make that happen.
