I don't see anyone buffing a new installations to apply a finish coat. It's probably what's in the specs but nobody is doing it on commercial work from my half vast experience.
Same here. I don't know that I have ever seen them buff it first.....

I would not seal it before cleaning it with a rotary . If that tile is not perfectly clean it will turn color under the sealer . For what they charge it is easier to let some one that does it every day and tack something on the back end .

What Nick said CP. Cleaning would be the correct term but using a slightly abrasive pad.

He gave me a mop and a mop tub to use with a wringer squeezer thingy.
The job will be waxed in parts because there is so much furniture and no place to put it all. It will probably take at least 3 separate procedures.

If you have a lot of furniture, make sure you finish coats are dry before placing anything on them. I'm sure everyone here who has done schools has seen those quarter sized disks come out when they have put the desks in too soon. The metal cross linker love the metal glides on the bottom desks!

They don't have time to wait for it to dry.

Overnight or longer?
This job is being done in sections, so some of the furniture will be shifted from the un prepped side to the completed (and waxed) side of the room temporarily.

I figured on putting some squares of carpet under the legs of the stuff that will be positioned onto the newly waxed floor temporarily while the final section will be prepped and laid.

I want them to get 3 coats on.
I'll do the first one and they can watch to see how a seasoned pro does it.
I was told 45 minutes to an hour and a half if it's humid between coats, so 3 coats in a day out to be good. However, I think the janitorial people said that preferably, the first coat needs to dry longer....... maybe overnight?

I ordered a clutch plate today, it was $17. I'll use some good 3/4 inch plywood for a base so I can use the machine for sanding. That's all I figured on using the unit for anyway.

Depends on the environment. I have seen schools in summers with no air movement take several days if the coats were on the thick side.

Remember,, thinner is a winner with finishes. Far better to have three very thin coats than one thick one.

That's the plan Peter. I did waxing once before using a folded microfiber cloth. I amazed myself with the results. ... really, it turned out flawless. It looked so nice I wanted to become a janitor by the third coat.
Product was a commercial one and called "on and on"
You are right, thin is in....................

No it didn't.
This prepping................ the scuffing and cleaning of the new tile is new territory for me. I want to use the least amount of water and cleaning solution because this tile is laid over a wood substrate.
I was told to use warm water and a relatively microscopic amount of Windex as a cleaner. (exact amounts are top secret............ if I dold ya, I
I'd have ta kill ya kind of stuff )
