rubber backed carpet glued to back of regular carpet
I have a standard 3' by 5' rubber back carpet that is used in front of a sliding glass door to pick up the dirt when the kids come in from the back yard. The problem is that is slides on top of the new carpet we had put in. There is enough carpet left over from the install that I decided to take a piece and cut it the same size as this rubber backed throw rug that is in front of the door and turn it upside down. I found that it does not slide on top of the carpet so I want to glue it to the rubber back carpet to act as a non-slip surface. I tried using spray glue on the two surfaces (smooth rubber and the backing of the carpet) It did not work very well. What kind of glue should I use? Latex? or what about smearing some silicone rubber that I have in some caulking tubes on one surface and putting them together? I have used rubber glue before but it is hard to work with since once they touch it is over for any movement of the two pieces. The other idea was to use some double sided tape around the edges and a big X in the middle.
Thanks in advance for any ideas....
