Although the info is good and all here should know where to find it, the thread was about carpet off gassing. Further, carpet and adhesives are tested separately, not as a combined unit.

If I pre-cut this polyester ( tufted cut pile ) apartment carpet a day or two before, it will off gas enough of the fumes, in the shop, to keep me head ache free for the drive, but if I cut and pick-up the same day, my head becomes numb on either side with-in minutes, even with the windows open. Not a good way to start your day, this stuff is the complete opposite of Green ! Help !!

You're that sensitive to certain carpets and still lay it for a living? That really amazes me!

Hi Tia and thanks for stating the obvious, sometimes the answer is so close it can bite you or kiss you ! I need Trust and less Fear to make a change and this trade has a hold on me, so I stay, for now.------ Maybe a Bus driver Massage therapist ( Women only ) or Juggling instructor Stay Tuned !

On a busy week I'll install three days, then bind, repair or measure on the other two, it's all I know, it's in the blood ! Maybe Literally it provides me with purpose, so I cope with the sensitivity.

My stepdaughter used to come in the store, touch a carpet sample and immediately break out in a rash! It's just hard to imagine someone working with it all the time that has such sensitivity ...

I knew an installer in KC, who developed an allergy to carpet after installing for a few years. He would get hives.

Just did an apartment yesterday, with the Extreme Smelly Carpet, but I took anti-inflammatory in the am and actually felt good the whole day + more focused !

by the way, I remember reading about a job opportunity for ya, did that pan-out in gold or with crushed marble dust

Have a good one !

Not sure which job opportunity you are talking about? I'm always running my mouth - it's kind of a depressing week, I'm on vacation and got a phone call from one of my coworkers that upon my return, we are getting yet another pay cut. That will be the ninth. My sales haven't dropped much at all during these cuts, and I'm not happy. Especially since it will affect my husband if I choose to change careers.

Sounds like a " Business Topic " to me ! Loaded with lots of questions :

Here's one to get started. If employees are asked to sacrifice with pay cuts in a bad economy, then wouldn't it be fair to reward them with profit sharing in a vibrant economy ?

Years ago we used to have mice living in the retailers carpet stores which came in from outside. Nice and warm with all those rolls of carpet. You never see one nowdays There must be something in the carpet they don't like.

Are we ever going to see those vibrant days again? Just listening to the news here all the countries all over the world, even China, don't sound like they are doing to well

The Carpet & Rug Institute has a Green Label or Green Plus regarding the VOCS off gassing of the carpet Green Plus is the best but a natural fiber like Wool with a Jute backing would be the best I believe little to none. Go with a green plus or a natural fiber
What about my wool allergy? I itch just thinking about it... but luckily wool hasn't bothered me for a number of years now.... knock on wood.

The news thrives on sensationalism............ don't pay them no nevermind and things will improve.
