Normally, when you get new carpet, if the pad isn't changed, it voids the warranties on the new carpet. There are some exceptions. Can you provide more information, since Ligget & Platt has a number of pads. I do know that Stainmaster pad upholds the warranties on a change of carpet.

Is it the new double sided white film with a pink inner core?
Good pad, but low density IMO, too soft and will compress IMO
Get a nice 8lb rebond with a moisture sealer on the top

Give you all alittle heads up on the double sided pad.

Over here in the country of California, The double sided pad(barrier pad on both sides) is causing moisture under the bottom layer which is causing MOLD.

Not all but where their is a high content of moisture in the slab they are getting mold, IMO if you are gonna use this double sided pad, best do a Calcium Cloride test.

Moisture Barrier Pad only needs to be on the top, IMO, this will help the concerete breath instead of trapping it with double sided pad.

Check out the SMART CUSHION by MOHAWK, Barrier pad and enhances the warrenties of your carpet, and is transferrable, Transferrable is the key word to look for

I would think a mat (polyethylene sheet) test would give you the info you need for a pad choice. The larger an area you test, the better, i.e. 6' X 6' or larger rather than 4' X 4'. I would think that to be a better simulation of how wall to wall pad would behave.

Stainmaster has a breathable moisture barrier, most others do not. Meaning those that do not shouldn't ever be used over concrete, as they will trap any moisture from underneath, causing a problem. I've never personally seen one with a barrier both above and below ...

You tell me:

Stainmaster Carpet Pad is designed to increase the life of your carpet through absorbing foot traffic, reducing wear and tear, and improving the comfort level of your carpet. In addition to improving the general characteristics of your carpet, Stainmaster Carpet Pad protects your floor from moisture and allows easier clean-up of spills. Stainmaster Carpet Pad features Hytrel, a breathable moisture barrier from Dupont. This makes cleaning your carpet easier as it protects the subfloor from damage and prevents spills from returning to the surface, a common problem from recurring stains.

There are breathable water resistant materials. Water PROOF and water resistant are to different things though.

Yeah, like scratch proof and scratch resistant. When laminates first came out, one of my ladies' magazines said they were scratch proof, and I wrote them a letter telling them they better back off on that! Resistant, yes, but not scratch proof!

Thanks for the 411 bud, however I got what you said already covered.
When I say moisture barrier, I mostly mean a spill guard so no dust, dirt, or liquid spillls will keep wicking up through the cpt after being cleaned. A 7/16 8lb bonded w/ a sealer on top is my staple pad.
Shaws double sided 10lb and Leggets are upgrades.
I agree about going over slabs with these products.
Most step up pads with long warranties that I've sold are transferable lifetime warr. also
The double sided pad is great for rooms above garages that are cool, so it acts as a thermal insulator
