My husband has often predicted yarn failure according to the amount of residue on his knees after installation. Also, has voiced his concern about kids crawling on the floor in such "sticky" situations. The reps explained this phenomenon as "unwashed fibers". Why the mills don't wash and rinse ALL the fibers is a mystery to me - then again not, because that saves money and gets them to us cheaper. Haven't seen this problem since berbers first came out in the market, however. Don't sell SmartStrand. Have a display, don't choose to sell it.

I hear dealers are either all in or out with this "stuff" when it comes to selling it.

Customer walks in and says "I need something that is very stain resistant, good fade resistance, also soft, (you start walking him or her to smartstrand) and also it's gotta wear very well cause I get alot of traffic (doh salesman does a 180 and goes for an Anso or Stainmaster BCF product)

Exactly - we're scared of what hasn't proven itself. We have a Stainmaster Master Gallery, and as a Carpet One, we also sell Lee's. For durability, those two have gained my attention over the years, mainly because if there does happen to be a claim, they do stand behind them!
