Re: Shower Pan Liner Patch?
I was thinking of Redgard, since that's what I use for some waterproofing, but you could probably use and of the paint-on waterproofing products out there.
With the liner adhesive, I think it specifies that after the adhesive is applied, you must keep it within a certain temperature range (somewhere around 70 degrees) for a couple or three days to allow the adhesive to cure properly. If this wasn't done, there is the possibility of a leak.
I don't do showers with PVC liners anymore, but if I did one with a splice like yours, I would definitely want a flood test before I went any further. It's much cheaper to fix now than later.
With Redgard, it must be applied in several coats to achieve a 40 mil thickness. One important thing, though, is that you'll need to let the mudbed cure for a while before applying the first coat. If you don't, the Redgard won't adhere properly and will actually come off under normal traffic, such as while you're in the shower installing tile on the wall.
So if you go that route, I would flood test right away, put your final mud bed in so it can cure, and save the Redgard until a couple of days before you are ready to start with tile. That way the mud will have cure time and the Redgard will have dry time.
Do you have some type of plastic or roofing felt behind the Durock on the walls?
