Ohh, I once had a beautiful old Victorian home which was just full of original wood ... did start out using Murphy's, but switched to Liquid Gold after about 5 or 6 years there. It seemed to moisturize the wood better and had to be used much less often. Since no one should want to paint wonderful woodwork, why do we care what painters have for problems? That wasn't very nice, was it? Oops, you said unstainable ... do painters stain? I feel that woodwork that is consistently treated doesn't need to be restained, as proper treatment keeps up on the natural luster. Just me! Rubbed lots of woodwork in my life.

Scott,

This wasn't on the baseplates, it was on the sides. The base went on after. But, there were 7 open sides which didn't get covered by plates. Funny enough, the kitchen contractor was a man I had a couple years ago as my PM on a big commercial job who recently went "out on his own". He kept his head down when I came over to that house, except for a moment here or there to say "Hi" to me because he already knew we got along really well, but I'm a hard-ass! We'd been through a job with almost $40K of floor covering, and his boys were in the way of mine too much, so I went in there and told them how it wa, LOL!
