The basic festool rig has become very affordable. I highly recommend them. They do use plastic motor housings, though.(not because they are lighter, but because they are superior for reasons beyond the grasp of many people) Mine seems to work just fine .No problem lies therein.

If you get on their mailing list, you can find deals on refurbished stuff. Maybe you don't even need to get on the list. It is probably listed on their site. I think it is festoolusa.com

EDIT
I agree with your observation but please use the Report Bad Post button located in the upper right corner of every post instead of making comments that might have to be edited out too. Thank you SK.

INSTALATION TIP:- for fitting glueless laminates (angle up and push in types), a decent pair of fingerless leather cycling gloves (with padding) saves your palms from all that banging on the edge.

When cutting the 7" boards to length , i put 4 fingers on the top of the board and the thumb underneath .. bring down the blade almost to the bottom , and pull the board up to the blade with your thumb , makes a quick and accurate cut every time ..
Get a MagnumShear. Best tool I've ever bought. Cut right in the work area with no saw dust. I've got one of the older ones that cuts up to 18" width. I bought it when I was doing this 3000 sft house. I figured it would save all kinds of time having to walk back and forth to the garage to make cuts. It probably cut a day off the entire job.

Glueing laminate trim

I think most guys use a pinner and adhesive like Chemrex for this. Pinner broke, so I improvised. Made up some clamps.

Re: Installation tips anyone?

I recently installed a floating wood floor, over a radiant heat subfloor. The room was a bit over thirty feet wide, and to minimze the expansion requirements, I started the installation in the middle of the room. Wood flooring moves in the direction of the tongue, so by doing so, you cut your expansion room needs in half. I will normally use backer blocks made from scraps to secure these rows, and nail them to a wood subfloor with my brad nailer. But with radiant heating or concrete, I just glue my backer blocks to the subfloor, to secure the rows. My Orcon glue gun, and low temp sticks have sufficient hold to get the job done. In this picture, I needed to secure the rows, and gain some clearance so as not to damage the underlay, or the poly under it. On a concrete glue down, you would just eliminate the long "spacer" boards, and put the backers right up against the row you start at.

In this picture, I was wrapping around a stem wall, and was able to use my adjustable clamps, with no need for the glued in place backer blocks.
