Re: carpet seaming video
Among the many, many incorrect bits of information, did you notice he is using a 4" iron (or glue gun as he refers to it at one point) with 6" tape?
Yeah...That'll help.

Re: carpet seaming video
The sad part is that there will be those that watch that video and actually think the guy has it right.

Well, if we continue to get our posts indexed in all the good search engines, people will find that (and many others) video here on TFP and will see by all the great replies that it is, in fact, the wrong way to "seem" a carpet.

Re: carpet seaming video
If the seam was any longer , he would have to go out and buy a few more plastic tool boxes , for seam weights.
I like how he runs the tape a foot up the wall

We laughed about his using his "heat gun" to melt that tape running up the wall ...

Re: carpet seaming video
I love this guy!
Seriously, at least he's not trying to sell us something!
For me, the absolute best part of the video comes 4 minutes and 30 some odd seconds into it. As he's talking about melting the thermoplastic 'hot enough to melt but not too hot to burn' he burns his finger with hot glue. I'm sorry, but man, that hurts, kind of sends a hot flash through your whole body. Clearly we can see his whole body jerk as he quickly pulls his finger back. But like a true pro, he gets back on track without missing a beat and keeps moving.
If we ever get a chance to rate these videos, this one gets my vote as funniest to date. I especially love applying seam sealer after the seam is done!

While there's no facility to rate different aspects of the videos, you can rate for overall quality. At the top of the topic, on the right side, you'll see a menu for "Rate Discussion." Click that and select the number of stars you feel reflects the value of the video.

Re: carpet seaming video
I think this video must be a goof and the giveaway to me is the guys speech pattern. It's a mockumentary guys and sorry to say I think they are mocking us. The guy's using the voice of Lenny Small from the orginal movie Of Mice and Men.

Brian...if it's a mockery he's put up a fairly elaborate website to back it up. Have you gone to the site?

Well then I guess I owe Lenny Small an apology!
I was half joking. The guys voice did remind me of the caricature of a mentally disabled man from that great old film. I'll have to look at the guys website.........I'm scared though if this guy's for real.

Re: carpet seaming video
Ha ha, I showed the "carpet seeming" video to my wife.
She's no installer, but has been married to one for 33 years.
She just gave me "that look" and said "Is this a joke"?
I said "Sort of".

Re: carpet seaming video
Now is a time when I wish my plastic cups were upgraded to electrical wire.
I have a mobile home, but it don't have a cement floor like his does, so I won't need to use a carpet scrap underneath when cutting the seam.
It's loading up faster than I figured it would.
