pam glue gun
Showing the speed and strength of PAM Fastening Technology's UX8012 Hot Melt Adhesive on various substrates. The adhesive is applied at 390*F via PAM Fastening Technology's 220w industrial grade glue gun, the HB220.

Re: pam glue gun
They market that glue gun to stick tackstrip to concrete. There has been discussion on here before as to whether it works or not.

Re: pam glue gun
Here is the tackless video for that adhesive. The video does not show the strength of the bond after it dries.
A new hot melt adhesive that creates a high strength non-toxic bond between carpet tack or metal clips and the finished concrete, fiber cement backer board or wood before stretching a carpet over the floor.
The Series UX 8012 Hot Melt Adhesive from PAM Fastening complements the companys Model HB 220 Hot Melt Glue Gun that accommodates the temperature required to apply the adhesive.
Benefits of using the adhesive for the carpet installer include the strength of the bond and its quick 5-minute set up time.

Re: pam glue gun
I'd like this glue gun if it came in 110 V.
Most houses don't have a 220 available. By the time we we went to the breaker box we may as well have used CX947 and nails.

Re: pam glue gun
That's 220 watts. I think it's 110 volts, but can't find that in any of their details, so I could be wrong.

Re: pam glue gun
It is 110 volt, just plug it into your regular outlet.
While I hear reports that it works great it did not work at all for me. Tack strip popped from very little stretch. Might work for you knee kicker jockeys.
If it did work it is a fast system for fastening strip. Much faster and easier on the body than just plain nailing.

Re: pam glue gun
It has worked great for my guys, And no they are not knee kickers, Maybe it was the glue sticks STULLIS that was sent with your gun, They are speacial glue sticks for the gun, I bought a case of sticks from the glue gun company itself, 350 of them for Like 98 dollars, Its worth the time and money I felt....

Re: pam glue gun
Do you start with the glue and then nail into the concrete or just use the glue only?

Re: pam glue gun
I use mine regularly. As long as the surfaces are clean and free from dust , a tractor wont pull the strip up.
Works awsome on wood and laminate transitions too.
I also use it on glue down wood jobs on the first two rows. Its nice having them anchored right away.

Re: pam glue gun
The Kool Glide glue sticks work on strip too, but it cools so fast that you have to cut the strip into 1' pieces.

They were supposed to be the correct glue sticks. They are the only glue sticks that this flooring supply store carries and yes the sticks are spendy. There are different formulas of glue sticks that you can get for different applications but the flooring stores would have to special order those. These are the 2 biggest flooring sundries stores in the Twin Cities greater MN market.
Concrete was clean. If I had to break out the surface grinder then it would not be worth the extra cost involved. Like I said I have heard stories of it working but it did not work at all on the job I tried it on. I was so hoping it would.

Re: pam glue gun
This gun just got these in at my local supply shop. They want $100 for the gun and some sticks. Looks like one stick per strip. I was seriously thinking about getting this gun. Bad concrete can really set you back on a carpet job. You get there and think that you will be done in half a day, but then strip starts popping or is rotted and before you know it you got half a day replacing strip on granite concrete! Nothing gets me more frustrated than concrete strip on brittle concrete!

Re: pam glue gun
GOOGLE pam glue Gun and I am sure you'll find it cheaper, Not to put your supllier down, I paid 85.00 for mine and had to bargin with my supplier Tom Duffy's to match the price of the case of glue sticks. Buying the case was cheaper over a six month period than the 8 or 10 stick pack. I like to buy in bulk, dont like going to supply shop every other day, Supply shop is 50 miles away.
