Fly ash in concrete

I read an article by Lew Migliore on fly ash in concrete, he indicates that it will have a detrimental effect on adhesives sticking to it. http://www.lgmandassociates.com/dmdo...ch%20%2708.pdf Page 3

Yet Fritz Tile is making SLC out of flyash. FritzTile F-10

Any opinions or thoughts?

Jheeeezh! Did you read the Fritz instructions?

Those instructions and guarantees don't do anything for anybody. Everything seems to be directed to "fast track installations" and the instructions are full of opportunities for the manufacturer to disclaim responsibility for any problems that may occur. The repetitions in the directions is mind boggling, I must be loosin' it.

I only read through it once but came away with more questions than I had answers.

I wonder if all the SLC's have instructions like that. I haven't read any of them in a long time. I also guess I 'm not up on the definition of the word "hydration".

If you are not a chemical engineer or a physicist, you need to have one (or more) on speed dial these days. That's what I like about this forum though. It helps to make one more aware of these everchanging conditions and specifications. If I don't know about it, one of you guys might. If one you guys don't know it, you may know who does.
