Same thing happen to me a few years back.

Today I went back on a job that needed to dry out for a few days. The downstairs toilet was found to be cracked, pulled, and not reset (plumber to haul away).
guess what I found......

yep, full of it. Almost lost my lunch.

P.S. It's still there. (but I did put it over the hole and flush it several times, couldn't stand the smell permeating the basement)
