I've never tried it on a large repair. But on small gouges it is great. It takes some practice buy not a lot.
Just did one Friday, Armstrong Corlon, They had 2 areas (one small divot, and ont 2-3 inch long gouge) they wanted to weld a 5 inch by 5 foot patch to remove both areas at once. I use my kit and I couldn't even find the repairs.

Re: Repairs
You do come up with the good ones.
I don't know if this would work on cork. Cork is soft. This patch material is pretty hard.
Would 'time' solve this. maybe it would pop back.

What about steam. I've steamed dents out of wood before.

That's a good thought. I bet cork would be even more susceptible to steam than a denser "hardwood". Might wanna practice on a scrap first.

Wouldn't steam lift the finish?

Re: Repairs
I had been thinking about steam but Daris beat me to the punch. Good idea to try it on a scrap first. It does work with wood not too badly damaged. If hte finish is gone, use a very light wood magic marker. Always go lighter than you think you should (made the mistake of using these on my own wood and used the medium instead of the light. You can spot them pretty easy if you look for them.)

Re: Repairs
You can try setting a damp towel on it and a regular clothes iron on top for a few seconds at a time .. I pulled many a thing out of cpt that way .. Peter makes a good point though , try it on a pirce of scrap first ..
