Re: Safety first
Rusty, if I ever get my computer back, I'll send you the audio clip of the lady in the Burger King drive thru calling 911 because they didn't make her Western Bacon burger.
Sorry,

Re: Safety first
I've got a couple packs of bandaids in the van. If it's worse than that, duct tape is an option. I've only needed stitches twice. Once in the palm of my hand (teach me to throw blades in trash bags and try to stuff them in a dumpster) where there was no way to wrap it, and once on the back of my thumb where I could literally see all the way to the bone. I really should put together a real nice first aid kit, I've just never gotten around to it.
As for safety gear. Hard hats and boots are more likely to get me hurt than save me from it. I had to wear them on a hi-rise I worked in in town and was constantly tripping over those big clod hoppers. I damn near took a spill down the stairs once. I'm uncoordinated enough in tennis shoes. As for the hat I think that was the reason I quit and got my job back at my old shop. I couldn't stand it.

Re: Safety first
We must remember that first aid kits are not just for us. They are for helping others in need. In my opinion, everyone should know first aid and cpr. I have had the occasion to use both. First aid at a car wreck and cpr for a heart attack victim at church. Both worked out good. I can think of nothing worse than being in an emergency situation and not knowing what to do.

Fine-point tweezers, a straight pin, and a clean razor blade for digging out the constant splinters.

Re: Safety first
We are aging, people. Anyone have defibrillator paddles in the first aid kit? 1-2-3-4-5-CLEAR!

Re: Safety first
Those defibrillators are actually pretty smart. I had a little training in the use of one. It can tell if the pads aren't hooked up correctly, and if it detects any kind of activity in the heart, it won't deliver a shock. They're almost idiot-proof.

Re: Safety first
De-fibs are a great invention I am set to take a Red Cross de-fib course to get certified. The new ones check the heart rythm and will not fire if rythm is satisfactory. They are too expensive for individual first aid kits, but now they are in schools, gyms, and all churches should have one and two or three members certified in their use. The new ones also talk you through the paces of their use and will fire automatically after proper warning.

That's the first thing I look for in a first aid kit when duct tape and a paper towel don't quite work.
............I never need superglue unless working with white carpet. How about you guys? ...why is it that I never nick myself on brown carpet?
