Re: My Sanding Machine

Yesterday, I finally got to see who it was. I don't know them, but I had seen them the day before picking up pallets from the garbage. They were the only ones on the premises that day. The bad part is that the camera wasn't aimed to where I had my van parked so I don't get to see whats going on in that corner. I just see them walking away from where its parked and a pick-up truck driving out from that direction picking them up. My sanding machine and the chipping hammer don't come out, but I know it was them. If I see them again I want to approach them but I don't even know what to say. Them a-holes have cost me more than the worth of the tools, since the chipping hammer wasn't mine I got the bitching of a lifetime for it, even though I'll be replacing it out of my pocket. I was even told I don't care for my tools, when its totally the opposite. My tools are my pride and joy that's why I spend so much damn money on them. It just really bothers me that somebody would be that malicious and not give a damn to steal somebody's tools.

Re: My Sanding Machine

If you reported this to the police, they should have already taken this video into evidence. The value of the tools would make this a grand theft charge, I think, and the police should be gathering evidence, including any surveillance video from the buildings in and around the theft site. If they aren't taking this seriously, then you might consider talking with someone higher up, or maybe the advocacy group (police oversight committee, or whatever they call it in your area).

You didn't say if your insurance covers this loss. I have a feeling part of it might not. If any tools were loaned to you, they wouldn't be on the list you gave the insurance company. If there never was a list, then you should be covered.
