New Laminate Floor and New Tile in front of Fireplace

I am having a new Laminate Floor laid tomorrow but I need to leave space for the tile or marble, I am going to lay in front of the fireplace that will also go on the walls as a surround for the Fireplace. Are there certain requirements of how much space between the fireplace and the wood floor? or is it just preference? I was planning on laying the tile first but it is not going to work that way.

That is a code for your area that you need to get from a fireplace store or fire department might know.

THanks for your question. Since this is more about fire safety than laminates or tile, I moved your topic to the General Flooring Discussion forum. As KW mentioned, most states or municipalities have building codes or regulations concerning the hearth requirements for fireplaces. Let us know what state or city you are in and I'll bet one of our pros will know or find out for you. Otherwise, you can check your local building department tomorrow and they should be able to advise you.

Is this a wood burning fireplace or a gas one?

Actually with it being laminate flooring you shouldn't have any trouble either way.
Put it in however you want.

Austin may or may not be similar to Dallas.

Here you have to have a minimum of 2 feet, from the front of the firebox.
