Richard first of all thanks for dropping in. Now for your questions. You have ask two different questions.
1. Indentations in the carpet from chairs and furniture. This is normal because carpet is not rigid. However, if your carpet is properly installed and stretched, the indentations will pull out in time.
2. Scratches on vinyl and hardwood. It sound as if you live in an area with sandy loam soil. If so the track in of the soil is the main culprit for the scratching. To avoid this, increase the vacuuming or sweeping frequency of the vinyl and hardwood. As for the scratching when sliding objects on the floor. The chair pads and butcher block probably have impacted grit on the surface and it is doing the scratching. Chair pads should be checked and cleaned on a regular basis to keep them from acting as sandpaper. If you have the pads made of fibers, I suggest changing them out when they appear to be impacted with grit.
