new tool

heres a tool that may save your body but I doubt it. I saw this in Vegas a few years ago. At that time they were asking like a $1000 or so for it. Better make sure the stick is down really solid.

Re: new tool

Daris, you gotta buy it... for the collection. Just imagine; years from now, there it will be. a vintage tool in mint condition ~NIB~ The thing will be darn near priceless. After all, just imagine what you'd pay for Hinkle, in mint condition in the original box?

My vote is for you to buy it, try it and add it the collection. I'd buy it, but I couldn't figure out how to hang on a wall.

Re: new tool

Dobby~you got a Hinkle in the original box? I don't but I do have a few others in the original boxes. One of them is made out of wood with finger jointed corners. From 1884, box has some dings but other than that in decent shape.
Ya being the tool freak I am I thought about buying the tool but I don't have any justification to give momma for spending the money. If it was an antique she would understand to a point.

Re: new tool

I'm going to share this one thought that has sometimes worked well for me and others times has not and that is this; sometimes it's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission.

Dobby

BTW: My Hinkle is well used. I like tools old that have been used. Especially those that show hand wear.

Hinkle is an antique carpet stretcher:

Patent US0370257

You see them on ebay alot. I just found one. The first picture and the one advertising the tool is not part of it. I don't know what that is.

Re: new tool

I see there are several on ebay and it makes me think something is wrong with them or they are no good. There was a video somewhere of a guy using a power stretcher and kicker that was pnuematic. Me, I don't want to pack the compressor in every job to use it and have hose all over the place.
