All this for $74
$41.50 + 32.50 shipping. What a steal!
I say it's a pretty bad sign of the times when this batch of tools goes for such a low final bid. I was watching it but put in an unexpected 16 hour day so it slipped by me.
Hinge
Selvedge Trimmer
Metal Miters
Base gouge
top cutter
magnetic stubby pounder
stair tool
bunch of decent chisels
+ some assorted blades

I was watching that too but I didn't really need them, have other things to pay for now just like everyone else.

Re: All this for $74
People are selling everything to survive. There is a 1985 Chevy van for sale here with 108, 000 miles for $500. He can't sell it.

I heard a slightly different take on that from a tarnished old Irishman. He said if you REALLY want to get out of the trade you need to sell your tools. As long as you have the tools (assuming you know how to use them too, I guess) you'll always wind up back on your knees. In those days this trade paid quite a bit more than an average working stiff could make anywhere else.

Re: All this for $74
My husband has well over $10K in carpet tools - carver, beveler, double-cutter, on and on ... but, he refuses pull one out unless he's being properly financially accomodated, which doesn't much happen around here. He'll never sell them though, he is kind of a hoarder.
You should see how he acts when I threaten to learn how to use them, LOL!
As for the economy, it has been a huge pinch, very huge. I hope we all get through this.
