Wood Floor Temporary (~3 years) Fix

I have a somewhat large attic bedroom which has been finished, albeit somewhat inadequately.

It has what appears to be a pine subfloor; What I would like to do rather than carpet, laminate, or proper wood floors is wash/scrub and then apply a dark stain/sealer to it. There will be rugs about the room but I would like the borders to have a dark (perhaps somewhat glossy) ebony look to them. The idea is to hide the poorly kept plank flooring (1x4's from ~1915 I believe) and still give the room a nice look until proper flooring can be installed.

What sort of material/product would be adequate in this situation.

Why can't you sand and tape off the area you want to be darker and put a darker stain that the rest of the floor? Pull the tape and finish the whole thing at the same time.

You should also mop the pine planks with vergin solvent. This will remove any rosin that may be on the planks. Your stain and finish will not mix with the rosin.

It is solvent that is fresh and never used on another application. Like if you pour the solvent into a bucket and mop down a pine floor and then pour what is left back in the can to be used another time.

Ok Great I thought maybe it was a special solvent.
