How to run at 45 Degree angle?

Hello fellow floor installers, Im installing 3/4 inch nail down over top of pre-existing naildown hardwood so i need to run it at a 45 degree angle. How would i go about finding the angle to drop the chalk line?

snap a chaulk line that is parallel to one wall, don't matter which. Snap another line 90 degrees to it through any part of that line. Now measure an equal distance down each line, snap a line through these two points and your on a 45. Easiest way I know.

Find a corner, measure eqal distances both directions away from the corner, connect the dots.

I'm curious as to where everyone starts the first course, in the middle or the corner?

More or less in the middle.

In a sqare room, I'd be a middle man. Typically, I start at the longest run.

Did you need Selva to do an inspection on it for you? He would probably give you a discount if you asked nicely?

Those inspectors would see the dog and just blame it on him.

Diagonally I would start as far to the middle as I could get with the line. Straight lay I may start near the wall depending on the size of the room.
