unless yer REAL good at removin boards, I'd not lace it in. You have a risk of damagin surroundin boards, and then ya get the domino thing goin, and that aint a good thing........

Thanks for the replies.

So would it be relatively simple to rip out the existing header boards and put down a new one, and then go from there? Reason I ask is that the existing was ripped to less than 2 1/4 and by installing a new one, should make it look clean - but again, not sure how easy it is when coming to removing boards (even if perpendicular) and not damaging others.

Thoughts?
