Hardwood floor buckling

Installed 3/8 in solid about 3 months ago and was fine till now. Have two boards starting to buckel only at one spot and only about 1 to 2 feet long. what can i do about this? The rest of the floor is fine. I stapled flooring down over plywood.

It also might be helpful to know where in the room it's buckling, it it's possibly at the joint between two sheets of plywood, thickness of wood, whether or not it was properly acclimated, if a vapor barrier was used and what type, what type of staples and the schedule...anything else you can think of about the installation.

Oh, yeah....and a picture.

Re: Hardwood floor buckling

Buckling is a moisture issue.

Usually from lack of proper acclimation of the wood, or the home was closed up after installation without any constant air flow, creating a greenhouse effect.

Your flooring has gained moisture content, since it was installed.

Re: Hardwood floor buckling

Could it also be a subfloor or framing issue, considering it's only in one spot?

Re: Hardwood floor buckling

It could be an expansion issue.

If the substrate or framing gained moisture to swell, then the flooring surely did.

Buckling without any signs of cupping, is an air vapor issue(gain from humidity)
