uh-oh: pulled up carpet and found

that the kitchen has some sort of 1/4 inch board over the sub-floor that has he linoleum on it.. What will I do for my transition pieces now??

The kitchen is now 1/4 inch higher than the hall - which means when I put the floor down there will only be 1/2 inch difference instead of 3/4. The type of reducer I got that matches the floor -is one with a groove for the tongue to fit into and the reducer is 3/4 same as the floor.... . It won't fit on the tongue of the floor. HELP

See attached pics of the floor. I hope I explained this will enough - please ask for clarification if needed. We are at a loss as to how to deal with this!!

Here is a pic of the reducer type with measurements

they make a reducer for this it's called a DJ reducer the narrow end is cut to allow it to cover the edge of the vinyl floor. LOL The wood floor industry was thinking of you in this case. LOL Your retialer should allow you to exchange the moulding for the correct one.

Pry bar and a hammer. Start prying the underlayment up and demo it and the vinyl in one tear out. Then any staples left, pull them or cut them and pound down what's left.

I cant find any pics online either. I also know that these are avaialble unfinished since I do not know what brand of flooring you are installing. If you need to purchase a unfinished piece let meknow what color I a very extensive list of mixes for alot of the colors to blend pine and oak unfinsihed moldings.
Try to imagine a 5/16ths notch on the bottom of side of the narrow end of your reducer and that would be what you need.

That can be done if you have a router table. But they are available already cut.
I have been looking to see if I had a small piece that I could photo but I have not found one yet.
