Advice reg: installation plan

I am new to this forum. I am one of the DIY guys.

I am planning appx 450 sq ft of maple 3/4"x 3 1/4" and 200 sq ft of Bamboo 5/8" x 3" planks over 16 mm OSB, to be stapled by pnematic stapler. I have already removed the carpet. The subfloor is 7 years old in very level and very good shape. No squeeking.

1. Am doing the right thing by directly installing on OSB, ofcourse I will be using wax paper for underlayment. I seriously want to avoid height increase in the floor in case I put another layer of Plywood, otherwise Ihave to use so many transitions to tile and carpet ?

2. I am missing the mallet for stapler -Central Pneumatic 3 in 1 type. Where can I get the replacement. I am located in Ontario, Canada.

3. What length of staples I should use 1 1/2" or 2"?

Sorry for asking so many questions. Probably all beginners do. Thanks

16 mm is 5/8 in English. If OSB, you must have 16" spacing of your joists. Anything over that up to 19.2" requires a 3/4 minimum.

Why wax paper? Do you actually mean a coated Kraft paper product? Most here are big fans of Aquabar, an asphalt sandwiched coated Kraft paper product.

You should be able to use just about any rubber mallet for the nailer, but contact Harbor Freight for a replacement.

Are you aware you will need different fasteners for the two products? You also will need to enter the fasteners at different angles due to the gauge difference. Do you have a foot for the stapler for the different thicknesses?

How have you determined your subfloor is flat? And sound? No squeaks is pretty subjective. Give use your joist size, type, spacing and spans.

BTW, I figured you were a northern friend by your use of metric

Thanks so much for prompt reply.

Yes, this is Kraft coated paper from Lowes.

I had a big level 4' and I checked the floor at several places. And with tape I measured the level difference. At couple of places from one end to another of level the gap was no more than 3/16". Also I asked another person to watch light under the level from distance to identify the gap.

The joist is 1"x7" lumber apced at 16" mostly but some places even 9". The sounds were at very few places. I put 8x1 3/4" screws in the floor. That eliminated the squeeks. I checked by several people walking and jumping on the floor.

I have two shoes for stapler. One is 25/32" and the other is 15/32". Please advise on diff angles for fasteners. I thought there is only one angle. I was planning 1/2" crown staple in 15.5 gauge. What length I would need?

Thanks and you guessed right, I am in Ontario,Canada.
