Re: Keep Close in Prayer

I wanted to share a memory of Larry that brings a smile to me and Darian's face every time we think about it...

It's a memory from work so I thought you guys might get a smile and kick out of it as well.

We were on a custom install for our Local Supervisor of Elections' personal, newly constructed home. We were doing 2 hand-sewn border inlays with a woven wool along with some other solid rooms.

When Larry started working with us, the very first thing he was taught was how to conduct himself in a very professional manner and that customer service was THE most important part of the job. Like his dad and me, he took his job very seriously.

During one of our days working on this particular job the painters were there along with us all day, working in the rest of the house. There was the boss and three other guys.

During Larry’s morning break they all got to talking and joking around a little. I don’t remember what it was exactly but it had something to do with Larry being young and wet behind the ears. One of the helpers found something to mess with him about and they all laughed including Larry cause it was a pretty good one and Larry told him he’d have to get even for that one.

Well throughout the day the guy that had gotten one up on Larry had been goofing off, trying to play around with the other 2, and tossing a ball around in the attached, screened in pool yard. The boss had to keep getting onto him throughout the day.

Well, when they got ready to knock off and leave, they all said goodbye to us and on their way out the one that had gotten Larry that morning, looked at him and laughed and said, “I thought you were gonna get me back.”

Larry looked at the guy and asked him how old he was. The guy said he was 24. Larry looked him in the eyes and through a sincerely mischievous smile he said, “It’s a shame that I’m only 17 and I take my job too serious to play games at work. What did you do today, play ball?” Then he turned and look directly at the guy’s boss and the boss and the other 2 guys began laughing so hard that the guy just shook his head and turned around and started walking away. Larry just smiled his big, happy smile and walked away himself.

Between laughs the guy’s boss said, “He got you good!“ and we could still hear them laughing at him as they got to their truck.

Tammy

We miss you so very much son... so very, very much. But we would NOT trade even one split second of the time we had with you to avoid the pain and sorrow because in the time that we were blessed with you, you gave us so very, very much love, joy and happiness. We would rather suffer for the rest of our lives than to have never had you at all...

All of my love
forever and for always,

Mom<333

Re: Keep Close in Prayer

I am fairly new to this site, and just found this thread after your post....
I went back to the begging and read the story and the comments that followed.

I have 6 children myself, the oldest is 17.
Tears are flowing as I experience you two as loving parents who cherished their son and miss him beyond measure. It is beyond my comprehension how you continue to function, but as you say, God's grace is sufficient for the day.

May God grant you continued peace and grace.

Re: Keep Close in Prayer

Hi Chris,

Thank you for giving of your time to read the entire thread... It means the world to us because it means you have met Larry and now know him just a little bit. It means his memory is continuing on and as long as that is happening he will never truly be gone.

Larry's spirit and our youngest son both keep us functioning. Larry expects it of us and Darrin needs it from us so we do what we have to do. We cannot let either of them down.

Thank you for your kind words and thoughts and for the time you took to meet Larry. It really does help just knowing that others truly care.

Thanks to all of the wonderful people here who keep up with and reply to this ongoing thread! It proves that there are still many caring people in this world.

Gratefully,

Tammy
Love and cherish the ones you love with all of yourself, and forever show it. You may not always have the opportunity....
