In Memory of Doug Amundson

Doug passed away on the 3rd of July. He was a past and the 2nd President of CFI.
Doug became ill about 6 or 7 years ago. Whatever the illness was it affected his memory to the point he knew no one not even his wife and daughters.
He owned a commercial work room in Souix Falls, S.Dakaota. At the time he became ill they didn't know what the problem was but they were leaning heavily towards the glue from the flooring. The last I knew they still didn't know the cause.
According to Dougs wife he would let them put on a CFI shirt and no other kind. So maybe there was something there for him.
All my and CFI condolences to Mrs Amundson and his daughters. Doug was truly a great CFI friend.
For those who wish to read Dougs obituary go to Rude's Funeral Home : Brookings, South Dakota (SD).

Daris

I spoke with Doug on the phone in 2001. It's very sad to hear of his passing. Doug did what many of us only wish we could accomplish. It's people like him who I hope look down upon us from up there and approve of what we are trying to do in our little corner of the ether.

I only know of him by reputation when CFI was in its infancy. 60 is too young and his passing is sadly noted. My heart goes out to his family.

Re: In Memory of Doug Amundson

I moved this to the Announcements forum because of Doug's stature in the industry. I'll move it back to the memorial forum in a couple of weeks.

Re: In Memory of Doug Amundson

I met him twice,,,,
at first, I knew his name,,,, then I met him at a class and a conference....with Ken S., I can not remember the discussion, or the words, what I remember was a feeling, a warm pleasant caring feeling,,,, more a positive event,,,,trust you hold close,,,

when I saw his picture, I emailed and called Ken, and I got such a positive feedback and reminder,

sometimes, the character of a man is the impression we remember,
sometimes the honesty and integrity of a man is the impression,
sometimes it is the warmth and caring in the smile of the eyes that is the measure he willing and openly shares with you, that is the impression,,,,
I only met him twice, and the impression was good. And goodness was the man.
