Another good Smith gone

I don't know if any of you guys ever had the pleasure of meeting Tim Smith's dad over the years. Tim as some of you may know was Tandy's partner in FITS before his untimely passing as well as the founder of FCITS. Emerson Smith was a carpet retailer here in the Detroit area in the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. I installed for Emerson right up until he decided to lock the doors and call it quits. That was about 15 years ago or so. Tim's sister Jenny called me today to let me know that Emerson had passed away on Friday. I'll miss that old guy. He was like a grandfather to me. I would always try to call him at least once a month just to say hi. Tim used to come up from Dalton and we would all hunt deer together on the farm. By lunch time we would all end up in Emersons blind and we would just shoot the shit the rest of the day. If a deer came by it was a bonus. I miss those days. Ever since age started to set in Emerson didn't want to go out to the woods anymore. My condolences to his daughter Jenny and her two children.

Re: Another good Smith gone

Smitty was a good man. When Tim died a part of Smitty died. He was as stuborn as a bull, but had a very kind heart. At the memorial service he broke down and cried like a baby and Jenny said that was the first time she had seen her dad cry.

As schooling goes he did not have much, but he could pick stock that always seemed to be a winner and always seemed to know when to sell. He could read the stock page in the paper and tell where he was each day. Smitty owned a new Cadalic (sp) from year model to year model. His dealer always advised him when his new car arrived and it was usually the first one ordered by the dealer. He will be missed. My love and prayers to Jenny who has cancer.

Well over 50 years running on those Cadillacs. He only kept them one year. He would not even pick the colors.
