I just found out today that Carl passed in may. He was a great teacher and mentor. He will be missed.

Re: Carl Williams

Can we have more information? Many of us don't know who Carl was or anything about him. Any links to websites or his obit would also be helpful.

Thanks,

Jim

Re: Carl Williams

Carl was a very good man. He was one of the four original men to start inspection schools. He and another gentlemen wanted to be affiliated with IICRC, and Tim Smith (my partner) and Bennie Wood wanted to start a stand alone school (FCITS) in Dalton. As most of you know Tim passed away and then Carl. To my knowledge the other two men are not involved in either of the schools.

When Tim died, Carl was one of the very first to call me and offer his help any way I needed it. After that we would talk from time to time and always he would praise Tim and his work.

Two giants of our industry are now gone, and they are missed very much. I talked to Carl's wife after his death, but do not know the status of his school.

Re: Carl Williams

Here is the link to his school.
Academy of Textiles and Flooring
The school is still going and I had emailed them wondering if they were going to do a one day class before Surfaces. They replied there will be and of Carls passing. He always had interesting and informative speakers on the monday before the show. He also had connections to mills and flooring plants. When I was in his class he offered that around Christmas anyone that wanted to go to a mill and work for a week and get hands on training and understanding of carpet manufacturing, he had a link to get us there. I never went but he took us through Bentley and Custom Weave when I was in the class.
