i want to thank you all for the nice comments.. i actually have a video of him making a seam in my house about 6 months ago... it was a cross joint..no row runner,no straight edge...he free handed the seam from the back.. it turned out invisible.. the only man i ever saw freehand a seam from the back and it turned out perfect.. i have tried it and failed every time.. it is a 30 minute video.. i have watched it over 15 times today...at 63 he still had better hand skills than me.

That is a tough loss Al. My dad is 74 and still wants to work with me and my son. It is a sad thing to think of him not being around us everyday. My sincere heart felt condolences to you my friend. I am probably going to be skittles emotional at church tomorrow reflecting on your loss. My dad is a mountain of a man in my eyes spiritually and and a great husband father grandfather and greatgrandfather. May God give you comfort and peace in this passing. Be as strong for him as he would be for you.

Sorry for your loss, Al. I lost my dad 17 years ago, and still miss him. Keep his memory alive by passing on to others what he taught you.

So sorry to hear that Al. I lost mine 2 years ago and it left a huge hole in my life. It does get better but it's not easy. The best to you and your family.

You have our sincerest condolences Al, you have better memories of your Dad than either of us have of ours. Cherish them.
Incidentially, I have said many times that the day I retire is the day I drop dead on a job site. Your Dad was right.

My Deepest Sympathies Al,
My Dad was a free-handed seam cutter too. I rarely, but when I do, I think of my Pop and that crazy looking knife he had.
RIP Mr. Gladden and thanks for the military service, flooring and Parenting skills, it's obvious you did a Great Job with your son Al !

Sorry to be so late chiming in Al. I haven't been present here for a while.
My deepest condolences to you and your family. Lost my dad when he was 49........ I'm 52 now. Dad taught me so much and pointed my life in the direction it is now. He taught me carpentry and automotive skills and I thank him for that to this very day. It's gonna be a rough one for a long time Al............... but cherish all of those good times you were able to have together. It will smooth the new road ahead.
