Re: Installer & Inspector Workshop

Re: Installer & Inspector Workshop
In every waiver I have ever had to write up, not one has ever been signed. I have written at least a dozen over the years. One thing, besides being very specific, almost just like an inspection report, is to use something to the effect... Because of the property owners refusal to accept manufacturers standards as stated above, this is fully understood to only be a temporary installation, until stardards can be met.
Let a judge read that.
Like I said, I have never had one actually signed. I have walked from more then I remember, because of it. A little waste of time, is better then a big waste of time. Plus, no one likes being told, "I told you so"

Re: Installer & Inspector Workshop
I have been told you must have the words telling you to proceed as any idiot can understand the word proceed whereas they might not understand the technical terms. You must also state what is wrong and likely to happen. BUT I have heard of cases where the arbitrator has said would you jump off the bridge if told to which is basically saying you should not have done it. Our customer protection laws are pretty stiff. Like you rich business man, customer poor soul, you pay. A disclaimer has to specific to that situation

Re: Installer & Inspector Workshop
Perry would you share one of your waivers with us. Be sure and mark out all names and addresses.
Jon since you will not be able to attend the workshop, do you have any questions, or topic suggestons we should cover. You may know of issues that are common all over the world that we are missing. We value your input.

Re: Installer & Inspector Workshop
I did it. I have leased a training room at the Tulsa Technology Center for the workshop. It has audio/visual equipment, multimedia projector, overhead projector, and microphones. This is a fairly new facility with all the bells and whistles. It is within two miles of the hotel with plenty of free parking. I will sign the contract tomorrow.
The address is: TULSA TECHNOLOGY CENTER
3420 S MEMORIAL DRIVE
TULSA, OK 74145
Please email me to confirm you are coming.
Any questions?

Re: Installer & Inspector Workshop
What is the cost so we can get some ideas on per attendee prices? What is comfortable seating capacity?
If you send me the numbers I'll put together a spread sheet so we can see per attendee costs based on varying numbers of attendees.

Re: Installer & Inspector Workshop
I have already set a price of $50.00 per person. I am not one that will change a price once it is set. The cost is $1500.00 for the two days 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. As I stated earlier this is not a for profit deal for FITS. I honestly think we will get enough people to attend that we will cover expenses. I will do the printing of the workbook with my equipment It will seat up to 700 people.
Al if you don't want to rent a car, call me when you arrive and I will come to the airport and pick you up. That goes for anyone else also.

Re: Installer & Inspector Workshop
Tandy, do you need a deposit? Can we get 30 cash on the barrel head commitments in the next week? Any additional registrants can go for coffee??? I'll drink about 2 gallons a day just by myself...
A prune danish would be sweet too...
You can count me in as registrant numero uno Kinda like screaming "SHOTGUN!!!"

Re: Installer & Inspector Workshop
Tandy inspections here could be done by the NZ National Flooring Association but sometimes consumers get independent reports done by Building Consultants as well. Most of their reports turned into a nightmare as they are okay on buildings but floors????. Another issue is salesman with lack of product knowledge, site conditions, and the practical side of laying flooring leaving the installer leaving the installer to try and tell the customer things she doesn't want to hear diplomatically where the sales staff should have been more professional.
PS Selva and I are working through this to present a topic soon He is putting it in American.
