Proposed Agenda for the Installer-Inspector Workshop

Here we have a tentative agenda for the Installer-Inspector Workshop and we need your input/feedback. Please help us develop the final agenda so that we can move forward to plan and publicize the event.

A big thanks go to the committee members who developed this proposed agenda: Peter Kodner, rgfloor, Tandy Reeves, Woody1, Bud Cline, Danny Ferguson and Darwin. They have worked hard together and come out relatively unbruised - well, we did have to take Peter to the hospital once because he kept walking into a wall.

Nice work Peter. I did see a few names who have not registered for the directory or a name tag. I think several of the topics could easily run over the time frame allotted. Should a time frame be scheduled for the end of the day, for the topics that ran out of time?

My name is one that is on there and I will most likely be there. Momma don't care if I am gone on Mother's day. I look forward to working with Peter again. An honor actually.

Don't you dare tell him Daris!!! I'll cut those checks off quicker than flies to

Danny, just as the committee is looking for feedback to fine tune this, we were also thinking some topics may run over. I think we will play it by ear at the conference and not be too fast with the hook If any topic generates that kind of discussion, we will keep a couple options open and let the group make the decision. I truly hope you are right. That would mean we are accomplishing something

Pair me up with Charley Manson. I'm alright with that. I have had zero experience with an inspector. I have consulted with Ray Thompson about different issues regarding installations but never have dealt with an inspector about any install I have done. I aint sayin none of my jobs have never been inspected but I just am not aware of it happening. So I guess Selva is gonna have to let me know what we're gonna team up to do.

Selva you can pm me if ya want. be kind to me.

Hey Lo, you gotta be there, so if I gotta get you there, let me know.

Re: Proposed Agenda for the Installer-Inspector Workshop

Only thing I can see to define is on the 1st day, 3:15 - 4:45 PM
Group Discussion: "Ethics: What they are for Installers and Inspectors"
Moderated by: Daris Mulkin and Peter Kodne
Have you defined the ethics that you will be discussing? Different ethics exsist in different parts of the country, and as well as they vary from persons being self-employed to ones being employed by "others".

Re: Proposed Agenda for the Installer-Inspector Workshop

You might add the definition into the
12:00 - 12:30 PM
Working Lunch: "Introduction of the Standards for the Floor Covering Industry; ASTM, CRI 104/105,
IICRC S100, RFCI (several documents) , ANSI 108, TCNA Handbook, NALFA Installation Guide."
Moderated by: Bud Cline, Darin Lopez & Peter Kodner.
Possibly call it, " Introduction of the Standards of Practice and Ethics for the floor Covering Industry".
Define them all at once.

Good! I have no ethics so that leaves me out.

Re: Proposed Agenda for the Installer-Inspector Workshop

Woody, IMHO these are completely different issues. Also, the presentation of the standards is a "filler' segment to use time while we are eating. I intended to do a power point presentation with covers of all the standards (Bud- can you get me the ceramic items?) with information on how to obtain them on your own, i.e. web sites, snail mail addresses and telephone numbers. I had not meant to comment if they were good, bad or indifferent, just that they are the current documents widely accepted as the industry standards.

However, the ethics discussion would cover whether they are followed or not. Again, personal choice by all installers but I think we will have a lively back and forth between the attendees on this as well as other ethical dilemma we all face every day. Good exam[pl eis how do you handle an installation where you know the product is doomed to fail for the end use?

What are everyone else's thoughts on this. Besides Bud having no ethics

Actually Peter I'm already working on that. Those I have approached say they are glad to be of help but I haven't seen anything positive in their communications other than "Yes You Bet!"

I think once the announcement is made official and posted here we will have something to point to and lend some credibility to the project.

Re: Proposed Agenda for the Installer-Inspector Workshop

It appears you are satisfied with the proposed agenda. Therefore, we will now close this portion and make the agenda official. This will allow us to prepare material for distribution and for the members to copy the final program for sharing with installers, inspectors, dealers, distributors, and manufacturers. When you print your supply off share them with anyone in the flooring industry.
