The National Institute of Certified Floorcovering Inspectors Convention
Dalton, Georgia - October 22 - 24, 2008
We are back in Dalton, GA for this year's convention. We will be hosting our Celebration Dinner again this year at the Dalton Country Club and we are looking for a big turnout from our claims representatives to enjoy our yearly social event with us. Please contact your representatives and let them know we are coming and look forward to seeing them Thursday the 23rd.
Our feature speaker this year is Mrs. Cathy Duncan "The Report Writing Lady". Mrs. Duncan instructs the report writing portions of both the NWFA and NOFMA Inspector Certification Courses. There is nothing that separates "YOU" from the rest of the field than the ability to write a clear, concise, professional report. Don't miss this opportunity for 6 hours of in-depth report writing instruction. Take your communication skills to the next level and see the difference it will make in your business.
There will be 3 to 4 hours on Inspection Techniques spread throughout the three days of our convention on "How Do You Do That?" These inspection technique demonstrations will be broken down into 15 to 30 minute segments. Subjects to be covered include but are not limited to: Common mistakes when evaluating concrete slabs. Ralph Godfrey.
Side Match, is it or isn't it, can it be corrected? Fred Gamble.
Fuzzing and Shedding inspection procedures, defect or not? Randall Green.
Overwood: solid and engineered wood flooring, is there really any such thing? Mark Brown.
Checks and Splits: solid and engineered wood, unlocking the mystery. Why they occur and who is responsible? Will Stoner.
Plus: Delamination of engineered wood flooring. How to measure flatness and deflection properly and how to report it. Plus information on laminate and resilient flooring. These topics were selected after interviewing Claims Managers from all segments of our industry and asking ?What 5 areas would you recommend inspectors become more proficient to make us a more valuable asset?. By far "Report Writing" was on top of everyone's list, the rest you read above. There will also be on-going demonstrations of how topical and moisture from below affect solid wood differently when compared to engineered wood. Installation related damage or bad milling? How do you know? Plus much more.
Carpet Tiles: What are they? Problems, Causes, Cures; How to properly inspect carpet tile installations and report your findings. Two speakers covering 3 hours of instruction.
Mohawk & Shaw Industries will both have time to address the group explaining specific information regarding any new products and procedures as well as on-line based report writing programs/changes.
