Off topic one more moment (this is my specialty, in case you don't know yet, but I'm going to get back on in a sec) -
Jon: You are telling the truth when you say that you haven't done "it" before. Tommy says he wishes he'd get more of his own replacements, because he doesn't staple the %#&* out of the pad and it would be sooo much easier.
Bill: That is pretty funny! Did you get scared looks too?
Back on topic: I'm thinking we need to find a way to make a floor covering installation certification or degree a reality for young people. If you have to go to training, school, apprenticeship for something, it becomes easier to weed out the ones who will never bloom and also gives a better work/business knowledge and ethic.
I also want to mention something about salespeople not understanding installation. I've always done my best to be informed on this topic, not just with the work my husband does, but also the other types of installers. It grates my nerves when telling a customer it can't be done the way they want and having them tell me that since I'm not an installer, how can I know that? It is a good idea to have new salespeople go on jobs with the installers to see how it's really done, though, so they can explain why.
Tia I had a salesperson work with me every Tues during the winter months to see what and how things were done. He was always the top sales person in the store.

That is good!! - too many times I hear even the older, seasoned salespeople not know what they are talking about on installation. When asked questions by customers, I learn new things a lot when getting the answers from installers, since it isn't possible to witness and experience every scenario in person!
