Re: Flooring supply shop in New York?
Welcome Mike.
Its been a lotta years since I worked in Manhatten and Brooklyn.
This place is still supposed to be in business.
Downtown Floor Supply
338 Lafayette St
New York, NY 10012-2409
Michael Halabien moved to Jersey, Giant Floor went to Brooklyn.
May help, maybe not.
Most guys working downtown come in from the Boroughs. Tell me a little more.
If ya gotta bring a truck in everyday that will be brutal on a guy. Most stores deliver the rug and all supplies then the installer shows up. We had an installer back in the 60's who worked out of a VW bug, strapped the power stretcher on the back bumper.

You might consider ordering on-line and having it delivered to you. Shag Tools is an advertiser here and would appreciate the business.

I believe they have a deal on shipping too.

Shag Tools is a good company to deal with and it's a great way to support this site. You can click the link in my signature area to visit their site (if you just type their address in the browser or use a link that's in your Favorites/Bookmarks, I will NOT get credit and not earn a 2% commission).

Re: Flooring supply shop in New York?
Thanks for the help guys. I know parking is a nightmare there. I am not planning on driving. I will fly my guys up there and use the subway. Materials will have to be freighted to the jobsite directly. I have to work on the takeoffs tomorrow but I already know im going to need alot of glue for doublstik for the corridors. I prefer parabond 4099. Its what i use down here in florida. I didnt see really any carpet adhesive on that website you mentioned. The seam tape baldes etc would be fine from there. Im just trying to avoid shipping heavy stuff like floor patch and adhesives from miami to ny when i can just get it locally if possible. I normally dont work outside my comfort zone of south florida, but times are tough and im willing to travel now.

Might be a case where the manufacturer's adhesive would be a good choice, assuming they sell it. I'd also call Parabond and get the name of their NYC distributor.

A NY gig out of Florida? wow.
A retailer we are doing work for mentioned a job in Montreal. We thought he was kidding. Not driving to Montreal. If he wants us to do it, he can fly us and our tools there, put us up in a hotel and pay all expenses over and above installation. Our comfort zone is one heck of a lot smaller than South Florida.

Re: Flooring supply shop in New York?
Back in the 80's. I drove from Missouri to Minnesota to do a new house. Did the house in two days, spent another five days staying in it fishing. A huge lake was right out the back door.
