Re: Kitchen Cabinet Re-do
Yeah, could be perfect timing. I have the last half of the week open, I just bought a 20 pork shoulder roast. Maybe me and my barrel can make a little trip, a combo work/BBQ party.
Who else is in?
How many of us would it take, to eat 20 lbs of BBQ pulled pork, on French rolls?

I used to be an avid lunch box collector. I have a couple hundred. I tried selling some on eBay, but they either don't get the reserve or get way too little to be worthwhile. I should try again though. Maybe I should just take what I can get and maybe, if I sell all of them, I might get enough to buy a dishwasher.
Progress has slowed because of the computer problem I had a couple weeks ago. What little money I had to put into this remodel went into the new computer instead. But I did already have the cabinet door knobs and pulls. I also had enough of some MDF to use for the upper cabinet valances (the trim at the bottom of the upper cabinets). I finished the backsplash too - using the spar varnish on it drove me out of the house for a couple of days, even though it was touted as low VOC. And I finally got the bar constructed and the top put on.
My hope is to get the floor laid before Christmas eve - I'd really like to have some Christmas decorations, maybe even a small tree, for the first time in 4 years.

I love the cabinet over the sink! Same boat as you, had to spring for a new computer. Did okay on the Dell Black Friday sale.
Can't wait to see finished project! Can't wait to see the finished projects at our house, ha!

Re: Kitchen Cabinet Re-do
Next week would be excellent timing. The weather report is favorable, I will try to get some feather finish on the floor and all the base shoe will be painted and ready to nail up as soon as it's time for it. I have a couple neighbor punks that said they'd help me get my sofa inside when the floor is done.
I'd love to invite a few people from the neighborhood, if there's gonna be enough pork to go around. I've gotten some help from many of them over the last few years - the guy across the street who helps by shoveling snow from around my car, my fellow tenants, the highway patrolman that lives next door and visits once in a while and keeps people from blocking the dirt sidewalk so I'll have safe passage on my Segway at a dangerous intersection - oh, and maybe the cute new girl moving into the unit next to mine.
Man, I'm gettin' excited about Christmas now.
Jim

"T" I'm glad to see ths post come up cause I was going to tell ya about a DIY show I watched the other night. They did a butcher block counter top out of maple. The cool part was how fast they did it. They glued, clamped, screwed, sent it out and hand it sanded even for thickness, put 2 coats of finish, and installed it all in 30 minutes. How come it took you so long?

I like that trim on the bottom of the upper cabinets. I figured you were still inchin' along on the project.
Now I'm tryin to remember a lunchbox I had. It was one of the space themed ones with some kind of rocket and a cartoon astronaut. Fireball X-15? I googled that, but non of the imaged matched my steel trap memory.
I do recall quite vividly, the sound inside a "vacuum bottle" after you drop it.
Lookin good T.
