Woodworking Project - No fun day

Not having a good day.
I was doing a little wood working project that I've wanted to do but keep putting off that would help organize my garage and wood working area. All I wanted to do was cut some circles out of 3/4 ply wood to make some lazy Susan's to mount peanut butter jars on for nails, nuts, and bolts that sort of stuff. First off I tore a bearing out in my Radial arm saw. One that helps hold the saw tight on the arm. Problem is there it is a Montgomery Wards saw that is over 30 years old. I was careless and was knocking off corners so it would fit through my band saw. It jumped up over the wood and snapped the bearing. Then I broke my band saw blade and don't have a spare. So Then I finished up the cutting with a scroll saw and called it a day. So here I am.

Dontcha just hate when that happens? You might have to break down and buy a new saw. I've been putting off building a couple things here with the hope that one of those tool companies or a tool retailer would be interested in trading some ad space here for a table saw on a stand with wheels.

I have some storage issues myself. I gotta do something about it this summer, because winter and rainy weather is destroying stuff I have on shelves outside now.

Haven't used a band saw since high school. Do they cut a nicer circle than a jig saw?

I can cut a good circle with a band saw. I have 2, a 12" Grizzley and a 14" Craftsman.

Craigs list Daris... I have seen radial saws go for 50 bucks. I bought one to replace my 35 year old craftsman, 50 bucks. and all I needed to do was tighten it a little..
and Jim when you cut circles with band saw.. get a 1/2 piece of ply, and make a table that sets right up to your blade... then put a screw 1/2 the size of your circle even with the blade line... put the center of the ply on the screw and you will cut the true-est circle you have ever cut.... it is an old Norm trick....

I've been having that kind of luck the last month and a half with vehicles. First the plow truck leaking gas, and hard to find the parts to fix. Then the newest car we have gets a rumble in the driveline and it was a rear engine mount and that being worn out has the saga continueing all the way to the back of the car. Its still not done. Driving to work last week and notice people aren't staying on my bumper like usual so I pull over and steam pouring out of the front. Pop the hood and it is coming from the back of the motor so I limp into town about 1.5 miles and park. Its knocking now. Maybe need to get a new motor. Can't catch up for anything this spring but still smilin'

That's a shame that it's only 30 years old and already quit working. You gonna try to turn it in for the warranty?

I wonder if Wards is like Sears. "Satisfaction Guaranteed." Think I could get it replaced on that? I'm not satisfied.
