Blogging is here! Blogs have become more and more popular the past several years and it is one of the features I have always wanted to add to this already full featured website. What is a blog? Here is a portion of what
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, has to say about blogging:
"Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of most early blogs."
Just recently, a couple of very talented guys started the website,
www.vBlogetin.com. The lead developer, Adrian Schneider, and the able co-administrator, Hugh Messenger, have opened up testing of vBlogetin. After some hesitation on my part, and a false start that caused a few problems, I have installed the latest beta version of the software. Because it is beta software, you should understand that it may not be without problems and that there is the possibility, although slight, that blog entries could be lost.
It seems to be running very smooth. There are a number of user configurable options and it offers the ease of standard message posting editors that you are already familiar with to help you compose your blog entries. You can add images and stylized text with a number of formatting options. In time, we will also add the ability to upload images to the blog entry, just as you can with forum posts, and the use of video and other media content.
If you want to have your own blog right here at TheFloorPro.com, just let me know. You can request to be added to the Blogger usergroup by going to your UserCP and clicking the link on the left side for "Group Memberships", or you can shoot me an email or PM (click my name in the upper left corner of this post for those options). Blogging is easy and fun and it's a great way to publish your own how-tos, your opinions on any number of issues, photo essays - and it doesn't always have to be about flooring. You are welcome to use it for personal and entertainment purposes and you can even make your blogs private, allowing only those on your buddy list permission to read them.
Most of the public blogs can be commented on. You'll find a Quick Comment editor below each entry. Adding your comments to the blog entry is a welcome and interesting aspect of blogging. Of course, if the blog owner so chooses, comments can be turned off. You can also rate blogs and blog entries. This is a great way to show the blogger what types of blogs you most enjoy. Try to resist the urge to rate blogs and entries "Terrible". Remember what your momma told you: "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."
Enjoy this new feature here at TFP. Let me know what you think of it and please don't hesitate to ask to start your own blog.
