FIT Tile Program Available

Floorcovering Installation Training Tile Program Available!

FCICA, the Flooring Contractors Association, is now shipping their Floor Covering Installation Training (FIT) program for tile installation. The Tile Program joins the FIT Carpet and Resilient Programs. The FIT program was introduced in 1999 to create a comprehensive method for dealers and flooring contractors to conduct an in house training program for installers, salespeople and project managers. The FIT carpet curriculum was introduced in 1999 and in 2005 the resilient program was added.

"The FIT Tile program will be a valuable tool for our FIT subscribers who want to keep their staff up to date in the latest installation practices", said Christopher Capobianco, Chairman of FCICA. "While this will not replace programs already in place from other organizations, these books and the reference manual will be a great addition to the available training programs in the industry. Since 1999, we have seen the FCICA FIT program used by flooring contractors, dealers and technical colleges and we hope the FIT Tile curriculum will be just as well received as carpet and resilient were."

According to Kimberly Oderkirk, FCICA Executive Vice President, "Due to the generosity of the National Tile Contractors Association Training and Education Foundation we didn't need to reinvent the wheel; we were able to use their program and were able to update a few items and reformat it to meet the FIT program guidelines. FCICA is pleased to promote this standardization of tile installation."

The Tile program will consist of an instructor binder and two student guides. The 2007 TCA Handbook for Ceramic Tile Installation has also be included in the instructor binder.

For those who do not want to run a full scale training program but would like to have the information contained in the FIT Tile Program, a reference guide is available. The updates planned for the program include the answers of the review questions for the trainers and the Glossary of Terms. Those who currently are subscribed to the program will automatically receive this addition to the program.

Re: FIT Tile Program Available

Question:
since they will be using TCA & CTEF materials, why not go to their facility and take the ceramic tile training directly from them?
Not trying to cause problems or argue with anyone, just trying to point out those programs are already in place, supported and acknowledged by the entire ceramic tile industry at a more than reasonable price, which, in todays market place, means a better and entire industry wide recognized training program from industry wide approved and acknowledged ceramic tile experts and instructors. And yes, the only certified ceramic laboratory, by the U.S., in the entire country.
The only draw back I can see as a USC Gamecock to this, is that TCA/CTEF is also part of the ceramic engineering department at Clemson University. But, I think it is good anyway.
