Site Outage Soon

Some of you already know that The Floor Pro Community is going to get a new design from the ground up. It's as close to being ready as it ever will be. Therefore, the website will be shut down sometime in the next day or two for several hours. At that time, you will not be able to access anything and you may get error messages or page not found notices.

We will be back, alive and more beautiful than before. Not only will we have a new coat of paint and signage, but there will be some interesting new features and functions. I know that you may have questions and may even experience problems. I will try my best to make the transition easy and answer any questions you have.

This will be your only notification of the outage. I am making a site-wide backup now and doing the last minute preparations for the changes. The upgrade process could begin any time within the next couple of hours (of this post time). You may need to log in again. If images don't seem to be working, you might have to do a hard refresh (press the Ctrl key and F5 at the same time), or even clear your browser's temporary Internet files. If you have any other problems, please ask for support in the Website and Forum Support forum. You do not have to be registered or logged in to use that forum.

Best R'gards and thanks for bearing with me,

TFP Admin

Addendum:

I realize that many of you are used to some of the navigation and other features of the forum. For instance, the same links backward to the different parts of the forum that you see at the top and the bottom of the forum. The next and previous thread links at the bottom of a thread too. These are all the result of customized edits that I have made over a period of time.

There will be a period of time that you will find that some of your favorite navigation links and other features will either be gone or will be different. Let me know in a reply to this or a request for support in the forum I linked to above, what you are missing or what you want me to try to add. I want this to be a place you find easy to use and more fun.

I'll spend as much time as I can to make this new design work as well or better than the old one. Please be patient and do offer your suggestions and ideas.

Jim

Re: Addendum:

Well, it took several hours and I am still in the hole. There is a lot left to do, but you should be able to use the forums. You'll be huntin' and trying to figure out where this or that went, but it will get closer to normal in the next few days. Keep hangin' in there. I hope you like the new style.

Is this going to be the page color from now on? It is really hard to read.

There are several colors. Please be specific. What part of the page are you having difficulty reading? The forum posts are on a almost white background with black lettering - just like a newspaper, book, and the FCI message board. Is it another part of the forum you are referring to?

I'm not sure I know what "button" you are talking about. What page were you on and where was the original "button" in the old style?

Are you missing the links in the navigation module of the new left sidebar? The "Community Forums" links directly to the forum home. There are a number of other frequently used links there.

For everyone else, please be very specific about the issues you are having. You need to tell me what page the problem is on and exactly where on the page the issue is. If it is in relation to the old design, please tell me where it was in that design, as opposed to where it is or isn't now.

I want to be able to help you as quickly as possible. You giving me detailed information will help speed things up.

Thanks and sorry for your difficulties.

Jim
