Win a Kool Glide Bonding System
The Long Awaited KoolGlide® Contest is Here
You can win one of the finest seaming, bonding and repair systems available today. First Prize is the KoolGlide System, including a case of mixed seaming and utility tapes and a bag of KoolGlide glue sticks. The KoolGlide tool presented will be your choice of either the KOOLGLIDE Pro model, most commonly used for carpet seaming and repairs, or the KOOLGLIDE Pro-W model that has a smooth bottom for better adhering wood, ceramics and other solid materials.
Second Prize in our Kool Glide Contest is a case of mixed seam tapes and Third Prize is two bags of Kool Glide glue sticks.
The KOOLGLIDE System is a totally new way to install carpet and other flooring materials. With KOOLGLIDE you remotely activate a hot-melt adhesive tape. Through the remote activation many of the problems of the 30-year-old hot iron method are eliminated. The KOOLGLIDE System works on carpet, wood and tile, giving you better quality and lower cost installation. The KOOLGLIDE System is safe, green and easy to use. That’s why major carpet mills, trainers, retailers and top installers endorse KOOLGLIDE installation.
Introducing - the Instafast System
Now, with the Instafast System from KOOLGLIDE, unsightly face nailing can be eliminated and tedious board replacement is made easy. Just put the board in place over the KOOLGLIDE Utility Tape. Then use the KOOLGLIDE PRO-W to activate the tape right through the board. This system uses patented Sinch® Technology to remotely activate a specially designed tape.
The Instafast System was developed for use on hardwood flooring, decorative tile and other hard surface applications, as well as carpet seaming and repairs.
The contest begins right now (March 9, 2009). It is for all flooring professionals. The contest lasts for twelve days (ending March 20, 2009) - winners will be announced on Monday, March 23, 2009. The contest rules are as follows: - You must already be a registered member of TFP with access to The Professional Forums, some info concerning your industry status in your profile and a post count of at least 5 at the time of this announcement.
- You must start a new topic that discusses your experience with any product or procedure that a KoolGlide System could be used on - it can be about carpet seaming or repairs, hardwood starter rows or replacement, decorative tile installation or any other use that could be suitable for the KoolGlide - this does not mean you had to have used the KoolGlide, only that it COULD have been used if you had one.
- The topic must mention what you would do with the KoolGlide if you had one - you have to mention the tool somewhere in the post so we know to include you in the contest.
- In addition to a new topic, you must also participate in an existing topic (like one started by another contest entrant, or any other topic that is less than 30 days old from time of last post). Ask a question, make a comment, but it must be a quality post - a couple words and a few smilies don't count.
- You are not required to use pictures, but they will add quality to your posts and give you a better chance at winning. But pictures without quality content will not help you, nor will very poor quality pictures (blurry, lack of detail, etc.). Use the upload feature to add up to 12 images to your posts. Contact me if you have trouble and I will help.
- Although you only need one new topic and one post in an existing topic to enter, the more you participate in all Kool Glide Contest topics, the better your chances.
- Numbers of posts or pictures do not guarantee you will win a prize. The winners will be selected by TFP staff and the Prize Sponsor and their selection of winners will be final.
- Please start your new topics in the appropriate forum. You can choose from any of the forums in the Pro or Consumer sections. If it is posted in the wrong forum, it will be moved.
- All contest posts and topics will be judged during the weekend, March 21 & 22, 2009. No post or topic posted after midnight, March 20, 2009 (Pacific Time Zone) will be counted, but you may continue to participate in those topics, if you want.
- No TFP staff member is eligible to win a prize, but they may participate in any contest topic. Staff members include Administrator, Lead Moderator, Moderator or Forum Guide. Advisors are not considered staff members and they have no say in the judging, so they may enter the contest.
To learn more about the KoolGlide System, please visit the KOOLGLIDE website.
Good luck to all who enter the contest. If you are a flooring professional that didn't qualify to enter this contest, please do participate in our many flooring related discussions. We will have other contests that may also require you to have a minimum number of posts to qualify, so you should prepare for them now. If you are a flooring professional that hasn't joined us here at The Floor Pro Community yet, please register a TFP account now. It's free, it's fun and you may have an opportunity to improve your career or that of someone else in the flooring industry.
If you have any questions about the contest, please ask as a reply to this topic. I want everyone to have a good chance at winning a prize, so don't be shy about asking for help. You can also send me a PM or an email - just click my User Name above and select the option you want from the drop-down. DO NOT use this topic to post your entries.
Best r'gards and may the best pro win,
Jim

Re: Win a Kool Glide Bonding System
If your discussion is only about the tool, you should start the topic in Tools, Equipment and Supplies - The Best Floor Covering Information & Resources If your discussion will be about a particular project or technique you use, then you might want to start the topic in one of these forums:
Carpet Q&A - The Best Floor Covering Information & Resources
Vinyl Flooring Q&A - The Best Floor Covering Information & Resources
Hardwood and Laminates Q&A - The Best Floor Covering Information & Resources
Ceramic and Stone Q&A - The Best Floor Covering Information & Resources
Carpet Sales and Installations - The Best Floor Covering Information & Resources
Sheet Vinyl, Rubber & VCT Sales and Installations - The Best Floor Covering Information & Resources
Hardwood & Laminate Sales and Installations - The Best Floor Covering Information & Resources
Ceramic & Stone Sales and Installations - The Best Floor Covering Information & Resources
If the topic you want to discuss is about issues you found concerning carpet seams, or might be as a result of a poor starter row in hardwood, or maybe a tile backsplash problem you found as an inspector, or you had some opinion as to how some inspection issues might be repaired, you could post it in Flooring Inspection Services - The Best Floor Covering Information & Resources
If you are a cleaner/restorer, you might have to do minor repairs, so you can describe these issues in the Cleaning & Restoration - The Best Floor Covering Information & Resources forum
Maybe you have a tutorial you have put together involving the proper use or techniques that apply to the tool, you can do that in the Industry Training & Organizations - The Best Floor Covering Information & Resources forum
If you are a distributor, you might want to discuss the marketing of the tool in The Business End of the Floorcovering Business - The Best Floor Covering Information & Resources If you are a retailer, you could use that same forum to discuss how you might sell your products and installation based partly on your use of better technology. The contest is open to all pros, no matter their segment in the industry. The winner might not be an installer.
The topics discussed might be about the use of other tools. Many of our members and contest entrants don't have a KoolGlide. A discussion about how they currently do things without the tool is perfectly acceptable - and then suggest how you might be able to do it differently with the tool.
If you make a mistake and post to the wrong forum, we will move it to the right forum. You won't get points against you for that kind of mistake. Just make sure that you post at least one new topic and reply to at least one existing topic to assure your entry in the contest.
Jim

Re: Win a Kool Glide Bonding System
I could look like a post ho for sure. Watchout, I think I can get Sinch/Koolglide in every post, and a few made up, ones.

Re: Win a Kool Glide Bonding System
I hope you'll limit your references to relevant ones. I have no doubt you would be one of the members to submit a quality topic for discussion. Good luck.

Laminate repairs with Kool Glide
This may look suspiciously like an attempt to start the ball rolling on the Kool Glide contest, but it is not.
If a repair were to be made to a laminate floor, which tape would be used? The regular carpet tape, or the utility tape with the paper left on the bottom of the tape.
And I assume the setting would be 'M' if over wood and 'H' if over conc.?

Re: Laminate repairs with Kool Glide
Let me offer an opportunity to a potential contest entrant by asking them to NOT reply to this topic with the answer, but to start their own topic with a short tutorial on laminate repairs with the KoolGlide OR a topic on laminate repairs you have done WITHOUT the KoolGlide and mentioning how the KoolGlide might make this different.
Barry has given you a great idea for a new topic to start the contest off. Sorry, Barry, but I moved your question to this topic to give members a better chance to enter the contest. So, now it is an attempt to get the ball rolling. Thank you.
R'gards,
Jim

Re: KoolGlide & Inspectors
Another excellent idea for someone to enter the contest with, Barry. I sure hope our members are taking note of these. Other ideas for topics can be posted in this thread and, hopefully, one of our members will take an idea and run with it.

Re: Win a Kool Glide Bonding System
...OK ANYBODY GONNA START THIS CONTEST THINGY !!!...
I found a new use fer my KG today. Had two 49 ft. runs of commercial direct glue to install by myself, cause my son was groutin some tile. It's on slab, and in order to keep it from movin while I pulled it back to glue, I zapped it in four spots to hold it in place....

Re: Win a Kool Glide Bonding System
We have one or two contest starts already, CP. We have a number of replies to existing topics too, so if those members started new topics about seaming, repairing, how they do starter rows in hardwood, decorative tile work or a whole bunch of other potential topics, then we'd have a great competition going.
Remember folks, your new topic doesn't have to be about the KoolGlide, it only has to be about something that a KoolGlide could be used on if you had one.
And CP, that idea you posted would make an excellent tip - you know, in the tip forum. Perhaps one of our members will use that idea as their new topic entry in the contest - maybe even illustrated with pictures or something.

We have been having a lot of high winds here. Wonder if I zapped my head with a Kool Glide, if my hat would stay on?
