Son goes to bootcamp

So, on this week our youngest headed to fort benning for his national guard army bootcamp. This is his 3rd day, probably still in withdrawal away from his phone. Kind of quiet in the house these days. He will be there until the end of november.

Best of luck to him, Ken. And I hope you and his mother are able to sleep peacefully while he is away.

Be proud. I wish him a long and successful career.

My son joined the Air Force out of high school. Wow! It's been fifteen years! He now has a Masters Degree in Human Factors. He trains pilots from around the world (NATO) how to stay alive in the aircraft. How to use their oxygen, recognize hypoxia before it's too late, how to eject, etc. He's even had the opportunity to jump HALO with Seals.

He is currently in transit to (what should be) his last station, or assignment, as the military calls it at Beale AFB, CA.

KW, he will be a different man the next time you see him. Again, be proud.

I have a grandson Eric in S. Korea in the Army. The way he talks he loves it. He must, he already re-upped after only being in a year.

Boot camp!
Well, at least it ends at some point!

My SDS pushed me into Recon during boot camp - wish I'd had a touch less testosterone, and a bit more noodle, and gotten into engineering or something with a future!
If you want my unsolicited two cents, advise your son to carefully consider any career push he gets, and keep his mind on the long game - BC makes you too tired to think clearly - there's a great future there if he pays more attention than I did.

Also I wish you luck, hope, and courage - you're bound to have a few sleepless nights coming up!

I'm not worried at all, its right up his alley. He loved football in HS. He'll come back ripped like all my buddies when they came back. He applied for airbourne and up til his leaving he hit the PT score so he could do it. He wants to go to college for excersize science. The benefits are great and like I told him, he might want to stay in for 20 and get retirement. We'll see.

Seems like yesterday when my wife and I sent our son off to Fort Jackson. Now he is a SSG and a medic. I would like to say thanks to your son, my son and anybody else who is out there protecting us.
