Health care
Did you know, I didn't, that we send $74 million a year to Egypt to help them pay for health care? And yet we have millions of Americans without care. Doesn't that make you mad? It sure makes me mad. We need to take care of Americans first.

I don't understand what that has to do with health care. I'm sure by that comment that you aren't a Pelosi fan and I certainly don't claim to be either, but why even bring her and her travel expenses into the conversation? At first I thought about asking you for some source of that information, but that doesn't have anything to do with health care either. I wanted to mention that each of your Virginia congresspersons get a minimum of $9,700.00 for travel, plus mileage - and they live only a short drive away - but that's not health care related either. I even thought about mentioning that Pelosi was not only a congresswoman, but also Speaker of the House, which makes her #2 in line for the US Presidency - in case of death or incapacity of the President and the Vice President, she will be in charge, which also affords her special protection, pay and perks over what a regular US Representative gets. But that doesn't have anything to do with health care provided to Egypt.
As you can see and have prob'ly known for some time, I am very touchy when it comes to discussing politics. TFP allows it, but I'll be damned if it is going to become the focus of our website. If you want to discuss congressional travel, fine. Start a topic about it. But to be fair, you should give us the source of your information and maybe include comparisons to others with similar positions in government. If a political discussion remains fair and any facts stated are supported by resource links, we can enjoy the topic.
But most of us here already know how political discussions end up. The worst part of them is they turn friends against each other. I can't understand for the life of me why anyone who cherishes the camaraderie we have developed would want to damage that by getting into confrontational and adversarial discussions.

Re: Health care
Politics and Religion, I will not change your mind and you will not change mine. At least I wont admit that you have while we are arguing. LOL government spending is a whole different animal, doesnt matter which side Dem or Reb. the monetary waste is astronomical. Our gov't has not put Americans first for many, many years.

No, this is NOT my site, Jerry. This is a website that belongs to flooring professionals, not armchair politicians. Flooring professionals comprise all spectra of the political landscape and some are fiercely pro or anti all manner of law and ideology. We are already strained enough between floor covering issues. Why would any of us want to strain our relationships even thinner by using politics to separate us? How can we rationally expect us all to agree with our political nits and picks when it has been proven otherwise time after time?
Your disdainful use of my last name illustrates exactly my point about pitting friends against each other. I am truly sorry it came to that.

Sorry, Jim.I only posted that because many installers can't afford health care. I won't make that mistake again.

Re: Health care
I was like CP and was going to stay out of this. However, two men I think a great deal of have crossed each other. May I suggest that we all take a deep breath and stop this before it goes any further. We are friends here and lets not let crap like this change anything.

I had no problem with your post, Rusty. It isn't the issues brought to light that I have a problem with, it's when they turn into a means to divide us and when we resort to name calling and insult throwing that troubles me greatly. And in this particular instance, being thrown completely off-topic in order to insult Pelosi was uncalled for. And it's not the discussion of travel pay to elected officials that bothers me either.

Unfortunately, it does. It has been shown to alter the course of friendships many times and it has been shown to alter the course of whole websites. We have very short memories.

Re: Health care
Probably should close it, since it got hijacked before anyone could even respond to it. But this happens to most of the threads posted.
