More login problems?

I have only received one email about this but I think more people have been effected but just not saying anything. Please do not get used to bad acting forum software that does not do what you think it should. Just email or PM me and I will look into it. If I can't find it I will probably just blame you. NO, no, no, no, just kidding. That is not what we learned in admin school. I will do what I can to fix the problem whenever you have one.

The current login problem that some of you are experiencing might be my fault. In my greed for more visitors and new members I am making some changes to the configuration that will make it easier for search engines to do what they do and hope that they rank us higher (we won't notice any ranking for probably 2 months or more). One of those changes was making sure that all links and landings on TheFloorPro.com came in at www.thefloorpro.com/whatever. The site was originally set up to accept links and landings at either the http://www.thefloorpro.com/ OR http://thefloorpro.com (the last one is without the www). If your bookmark or Favorites link has in its Properties for us the address without the www you might experience a problem with signing in.

Anyone who has this problem can fix it in one or more ways: Edit the properties of the link in your Favorites folder or in your Bookmarks (whatever browser you use); or delete the old link and add us again to your Favorites or Bookmarks; find the cookies for thefloorpro in your cookie folder and delete them (may be 2 of them) and a new cookie will be put there when you login again; or just go into your internet options or cookie options of your browser and delete all cookies (that's a lot of cookies for most and you will have to re-login at every site that has a login), which will add a new cookie to your folder to fix the problem.

I had the problem too. I didn't delete any cookies or change any links (mine were all www anyway). I just logged in a few times and it took care of itself. I think I switched to the forum pages to login and then back to the home page when it finally stopped asking me to login. I hope it is as simple for you. If not, please let me know here or in an email or PM and I will look deeper. I just want your visits to be pleasant, not a lot of work.

What does it mean if you minimize the forum for a while, and then come back later and have to login? Does it kick you out, if your not active for a certain amount of time?

Yes the forum cookie expires after a time if you do not tell the login to keep you logged in. I'll havea look at the configuration options to see if it can be increased some.
