"Why can't I post photos?," in the TFP Support and Feedback forum, begins: "Under 146.xx. It states "internal server error", try again later. Anybody!!!! Help!!!!
Thanks..."
If you try to upload more than one file and the total goes over the limit, you'll get the error. If you try to upload images larger than 750px wide, you'll also get an error. Please email me the same images you are trying to upload so I can see what the problem might be. admin@thefloorpro.com
Three of your 6 pictures are over the file size limit (156.14kb, 154.45kb, 148.43kb) and 2 others are so close to the limit that I'm not sure the forum software would be able to tell the difference. I'm going to try to upload a couple here.
Nope, none of them will upload. I will try changing the size and see what happens in the next post.
That worked, but the quality of the image was compromised because I edited the JPG image, which isn't good in that format. The next few images I will try to upload will be produced from converted images. I change your original JPG images to a PNG format that can allow editing without destruction, then I convert them back to JPG to reduce the file size.
Okay, it looks to be a setting for the dimensions of the images that is causing the problem. I did the procedure above, which reduced the original images to about half their file size, but maintained the original dimensions of 640x480 and got the Internal Server Error. I'll check the settings and see what I can do.
Testing the uploads again. I changed the size limit to 750px wide (the old size) until I can figure out a way to reduce the limit without having to delete a bunch of good images.
By the way, Willy, you have the largest average image file sizes of all the members and 4 of your images are in the top 5. I'm glad you upload images and want you to continue, but you should try to find a program that will help you reduce the file sizes of your images. At some point, hopefully long after I am gone, this site will have to place stricter limits on images because of the amount of server space they take.
Images in the 600 - 750px wide range should have file sizes no more than 80kb each. Yours are very close to twice that. The file size limit is 146kb here because so many people don't know how to edit their images effectively. But I don't want anyone to be complacent about image editing because we have higher than average limits. If I can help anyone learn how to edit their images with the programs they use, just let me know.
Thanks,
TFP Admin
PS: these are the images I edited and reduced to file sizes around 70 - 78kb each.
