Hi Jerry,
The original purpose of our Gallery was for just that. You could upload pictures and display them, along with a description, which could be a couple of paragraphs if you needed. Unfortunately, I didn't pick a very good Gallery application - or at least one that was real easy and real popular with the members.
Then I installed a blog application. It was still in beta (not ready for prime time), so I didn't promote it very much. Then the developer crapped out and I just dumped the original blog application the other day. However, I did get another application to take its place and was even able to convert all the blogs and entries, but because of our impending server move (which I am actually doing as I write this), I haven't had time to configure it and open it to use.
You can still do attachments here. If you know how to do it, you can do what you want - have a number of pictures (up to 6) with paragraphs in between them. You can learn how to do that by checking the
FAQ. Look for 2 things: attachments and BB Code. The attachments section will explain those and the BB Code will tell you what code to use in order to display your pictures the way you want.
Once we get moved, I'll help with this a little better. Also, I just installed a new Gallery application for another guy on his domain and it is really very nice - much nicer than the one we use. It's easier and has a lot more options. You can have albums for specific groups of pictures, you can set up categories for different kinds of pictures and we can draw people's attention to them by having a small strip of pictures displayed on the main forum page.
But more about that later. I got to get back to moving this site to a new server because I just HATE all those database errors. And no fancy application is much fun if all you get is database errors when you're trying to use it.
