Working on a new style for TFP

Shortly after we moved to this new server, I began working occasionally on a new style for The Floor Pro Community. I'm still a long way from finished, but I do have a color scheme and some graphics I'd like to share and ask you to give me feedback on.

One of the things I think many of you will like is things will be lighter - I will use more near-white in areas where you read text. I don't have much for examples of that, but the 2 images below will give you a basic idea of the scheme. You might notice the font is slightly larger in some areas too. Compare these sections of the forum home page with the existing style on the forum home page to see some differences.

The current design you guys are seeing is a heavily modified version of a design someone else originated. I changed some of the colors and many of the graphics, but it's always been someone else's original design concept.

The new design is mine alone. The logo is the only thing derived from the original design, but even that was modified from the original so much that all that was left of the original is the outer shape (you can't see the redesigned logo yet). Anyway, this is my artwork and I think it's turning out pretty nice. You, of course, can't see the whole design because I have only cropped out a couple small areas for you to see. If you guys don't shame me too much, I may share a bit more in a day or so.

Here is a comparison (I haven't replaced the Post Reply buttons yet and there's no Google ads while I'm working on the new style):

I like it. Warm tones are easier to read, and more manly too!

Thanks for the comments. Here is a sneak peek at the redesigned logo and the side panel that will be on most pages: TFP's New Style Test Page You can see by the statistics shown just how long I've been messin' with this - lolligaggin' actually.

Just when we're getting used to the valium, you wanna switch to oxycontin.

Just kidding. I like the looks of it. The green has always been a little drab. And I've built up a resistance to it.

Re: Working on a new style for TFP

The new design will still use green, just not nearly as much. Problem I've noticed is on a cheap computer, the green here looks almost like blue. I think toning it down will make it prettier for those with average graphics cards and monitors.

Yeah, well you should know by now I procrastinate some. I put the style away one day a while back and haven't done much with it until recently. It seems there's always something else that comes up that is more important - and I have a hard time tending to those too. :/
