"New Posts," in the TFP Support and Feedback forum, begins: "Yeah, I know. I already have a lot of those on another site. I think we have a few of ..."
Maybe I've been missing it, but is there a way to have a thread open to the first new/unread post in that thread? Some of the threads 3-4 pages long, you can see there's a new post 'cause the subject is in bold on the forum index, but you still have to scroll from #1, thru the pages, until you find where the new posts start.
Some forums I visit have this feature, have no idea how they do it, but it's a really nice feature.

Yes, we have it. Maybe you just missed it. It's a small square with an down-pointing arrow head type graphic. Click the little button to go to the first new post. Here's what it looks like now and what it will look like in the new design:

What happened to the new post icon on the main page ?
What are you referring to as the "main page"? The website home page, or the main forums page? The home page has been changed while I work on the new design. The new posts link isn't there. The forums home page still has the same new posts link in the box with your "Welcome Nick" in the upper-right corner.
Don't worry, when I finally make the new design live, you guys will have plenty to ask and complain about.

Excellent! I obviously never noticed that square before; much better than starting at #1 each time.
...the new posts link is in the lower left corner of my main page.
For me also!
The problem with that is it used to be when the home page opened I only had to mouse-over an inch to click on the "New Posts" when it was at the top right.
NOW I must scroll down a few times and move to the left to find the "New Posts".
You wouldn't think a guy would complain about such a thing but the truth is...the old way was much more convenient. Isn't that what this is all about? Convenience and user-friendliness?
I can see where newcomers (new users) would have to dink around to navigate to the new posts. Before the link was right there at the top starring you in the face each time.
That is what I was thinking. When I logged on before, I could see immediately if there was new posts, now I have to look for it. It also is in smaller print.

I'm real sorry you guys are having a hard time. But I did address this the other day:

I am working on the new style for the website, so you will see some differences and changes off and on. Some things might even break (I just broke the home page, for instance). Sorry for the problems. It'll be worth it.
As I said, some things on the design that you guys been using for the last 2½ years will be broken or not work as they did before. Some things will get worse before it gets better. It's not possible for me to do testing and design work on this software platform because it's a completely different kind of system than most all other websites. It's like I am taking a crash course in a new language.
Please bear with me. The problems you are experiencing will be short lived. I hope that it is only a matter of days or maybe a week or so that I am able to make the new style live. Then you can bitch and complain at me about the new design and why I can't do this or why I can't do that - and some of you will say you liked the old one better.
I will continue to work on the new design - I have given you a couple small previews, but no one has said anything - and things will continue to be problematic on this current design. It's just how it has to be. Think of it this way:
You tell your customers that you have to have all the furniture moved out of the work area and you will be tearing things up, making noise and dust and things will be difficult to live with for a few days until you finish the job and it looks way more beautiful than it does now and a lot easier to take care of.
The customer says, "cool, when can you start?" But just as you get started the customer asks where this is, where that is, why is this and why is that and when are you gonna finish. You pull your hair out.
I'm sorry, you guys. It's dusty in here and I know you can't find a couple things you were used to. I'm working hard and trying to make the new design really wonderful for you. I hope it will be worth the wait and the confusion.
Here is a glimpse at the TFP home page (I assume that's the page some of you mean when you say "main page") in the new design. There's no titles and no banners, but it will give you an idea what it will look like.
As for me, I can handle a few bumps Jim.
No worries here.
It did have me a little cornfused for a few minutes, didn't know how I was going to get in to the "Best Damned Forum in the Land". (Little Buckeye joke )
