Noticed the main page has been changed. I can barely read the print where it says "new posts " under my avatar. Anyone else having that problem or is it just these old eyes of mine?

Re: New Posts

The thing that would really be handy would be a means at the end of each thread to be able to click-back to the "New Posts" without having to scroll back to the top of a long thread. Maybe it's there and I just don't know it's there.

Re: New Posts

I am working on the new style for the website, so you will see some differences and changes off and on. Some things might even break (I just broke the home page, for instance). Sorry for the problems. It'll be worth it.

Bud, good idea. It's not there now, but I think I can add it. It won't happen until the new style goes live though.

Re: New Posts

OK OK OK, now the home page has changed again (today). How long is all of this going to take? Maybe I'll just wait until you get it out of your system before I return.

I was just getting used to the new layout and didn't want to kick your ass anymore, now it happens again. Where do you park that Segway anyway? Is it insured?

Rest assured it will.......but.......the new 'normal'.

'normal' is always transient, and relative

Re: New Posts

The only 2 things I been working on today is the navigation list and the welcome block on the left side. I turned off the top navigation, which included some things that are also in the welcome block (not all, but some - I'll modify that later). That whole nav bar won't be in the new style, so it's gone while I work on the new style - but only in the non-forum pages. I can't turn it on for this style and have it be off for the new one.

When the new style is introduced to all of you, there will be some issues and some of you will want to know what happened to this or that. It'll be a transition that might cause a few problems, but once the problems are taken care of and I can add in some customizations like I did with this style, I am sure most all of you will like the new style better than the old one.

The most important reason for some of the changes is there is a new version of the forum software. It's more secure and has more features. An important feature for some of you, I hope, will be the profile page - rather pageS. It will be much more extensive and it will be as close as some of you can get to having your own website as you can get, without having your own actual website. You will even be able to change the colors and things like that, so your profile will be much more personalized.

For now, I hope you guys will just bear with me while I work on the style and prepare for the upgrade to the new software. The new software would require me to make some big changes to the existing style, so I figured it would be a great time to make a completely new style. The text sizes will be slightly bigger, backgrounds lighter and easier to read. I'm hoping the page load times will be faster too, but that's something some of you will not be able to quantify. But it's also something I think is very attractive too. I am trying hard to make it look like a flooring site, right down to some new smilies I will install.

But don't shy away from mentioning some things you'd like to see. I get some of my ideas from the feedback you guys have posted the past 2 years. All I want is for the site to be very useful to its members and easy to use - and look pretty too.

Jim
